How Our Programme Works

A Structured Pathway With Room To Grow

Practical skills with a lasting impact

Each 60 minute, six session framework provides structure - from beginner bike checks, basic upkeep and specialist sessions on key components to advanced restoration for resale through local charities, events and donations to people in need. The programme is designed to be flexible, sessions can be repeated, adjusted or extended to ensure the right balance of challenge and support for each participant.

Supporting Progression And Positive Futures

SpokeUP’s aim is to help young people rediscover their potential. Every student is supported with feedback, session notes and, where appropriate, references for apprenticeships, further education or employment. Our outcomes may look different for each learner but the goal is always the same - creating positive pathways that last.

Example Course Content

We work closely with the school to create a programme that caters for the student’s needs. As a general guide our sessions include:

  • Wheels - Learning how to repair or replace tyres, tubes, wheels and related components
  • Brakes - Discovering the braking system by adjusting, repairing or replacing components.
  • Drivetrain - Adjusting, repairing or replacing transmission system components.
  • Safety - Identifying safe use of the cycle and repairing or replacing the necessary components.
